Student Fee
The College of Arts and Sciences instructional improvement fee helps enhance the student experience and improve student success. It covers the cost of classroom supplies and equipment, undergraduate research and travel awards, graduate student instructor salary supplementation, and professional advising support.
Our thanks to all the students who are investing in themselves and other K-State students. This small fee has had a big impact and continues to make a difference in the educational experience of all students in the college.
The student course fees are designed to support:
- Printing of exams, handouts, undergraduate theses, posters, scripts, etc.
- Purchase of scantrons and notecards
- Guest speakers who have real-world knowledge relevant to the class
- Calculators for exams
- Lab computers and software including Adobe creative suites, SPSS, GIS, Sona, etc.
- Photography and videography supplies and equipment
- Art supplies
- Laboratory supplies including safety equipment
- Cadavers (both human and animal) for dissection, and other anatomy supplies
- Interactive and learning-intensive field trips (e.g. Geology field work, New York Theatre)
- Drawing boards and markers
- Writing center supplies and support
- Journal and newspaper subscriptions
- Swipe cards
- Musical instrument purchases and repairs
- Reed-making supplies
- Orchestra, jazz, concert, vocal, choral, dance and theatre student travel
- Undergraduate and graduate student course assistants to support peer learning and instruction, course administration, and intensive learning experiences
- Production supplies for Drama Therapy coursework with special populations
- Consistent advising from professional advisors who help students select the best courses to achieve their goals
- Salary support to hire outstanding graduate teaching assistants to lead discussion sections, recitations, help rooms and laboratories.
- To help students engage in meaningful undergraduate research and other scholarly activities.
- For student to attend and present the results of their research, scholarly, creative activities and designs at conferences
- For touring groups including choral musical, theatre, debate, forensics, etc.
