Resources for College Success, Oct. 7
What if you had access to $1,000 but didn't know it? That's essentially what happens at K-State every day.
There are dozens of academic and student life services available to K-State students which can greatly enhance and improve academic success and the student life experience, yet all to often they are underutilized, or worse, not even known of by the student body. K-State wants to change that.
On Wednesday, October 7, the College of Arts & Sciences will host the first Resources for College Success event in the K-State Student Union Little Theatre from 4-5 p.m. The event is open to all students and will be a great opportunity to find out all that K-State has to offer.
"We have amazing students at K-State and we know there is no shortage of desire to succeed among our student body," said Kimathi Choma, Interim Assistant Dean of Diversity, Recruitment, and Retention for the College of Arts & Sciences. "But, we also know that there is often a lack of awareness related to the campus resources available to help achieve that success. The goal of this event is to help close that gap and connect the desire for success with the tools that can make it happen for students."
The event will include a panel discussion, as well as a mini Browsing Fair for students to learn more about various campus offices and resources. The panel discussion will include College of Arts & Sciences Ambassadors and staff from the Office of Student Life, Powercat Financial Counseling, Career and Employment Services, Academic Career and Information Center and Academic Assistance Center tutoring service.
The mini Browsing Fair will include Pilots Program, Non-Traditional and Veteran Student Services, Plan for Success, K-State Proud, the Writing Center and much more.
